How my studies have helped my career
Some parts of my Economics degree helped, but it was mainly about being able to think independently.
What surprised me about my career so far
There are a number of twists and turns, only some of which you can control.
Where I hope to be in 5 years
Sitting in the South of France with a glass of wine, or more realistically I hope to be in a more senior role in the organisation.
My advice to students considering work
Be flexible, don't chase the money and try to find a career which will make you happy.
What I do
Provide finance for "event driven" transactions e.g. Management Buyouts / M&A.
Skills I use and how I developed them
Risk assessment, accountancy, knowledge of legal documentation.
What I like most
Seeing a wide variety of customers and understanding what makes their companies work.
What I like least
Occasional long hours!
What surprised me most
There are always "unknown unknowns" and they have a knack of showing up when you least expect them!
