Skills I use and how I developed them

If I listed all the skills you end up using as a journalist we'd be here a long time - the nature of the job means you tend to need different ones every day. However good communication skills are pretty essential, especially if you want to be a reporter or producer.

I've worked for the BBC in both radio and television as a reporter, producer and presenter.

My advice to students considering work

It's tough to get work these days and competition is fierce. Don't leave planning your future until graduation day.

My advice about working in my industry

Get work experience... you need to be able to learn quickly and think on your feet.
