A day in the life of a Regional Fundraiser in the United Kingdom

Regional fundraiser for national charity

How I found out about the job

National press

The recruitment process

I applied in the summer of 2012, filling out a pdf application form and returning it by post. The interview consisted of both a formal interview and a 10 minute presentation to assess my understanding of the charity, what I would be doing in the first six months and my presentation style. One recommendation - if you ever have to give a presentation in an interview, whether or not you have any aids, stand up to present!

My advice about working in my industry

Don't be afraid to volunteer to get experience of working in fundraising. Volunteering with RAG whilst at York gave me both the bug for fundraising and lots of very useful transferrable skills.

What I do

I'm currently a regional fundraiser for the East Midlands at a national charity, raising funds from individuals, events, companies and charitable trusts.

What I like most

The opportunity to meet people from a wide range of backgrounds and the chance to get to see the support our charity offers to people
