A day in the life of a Department Manager (Customer Service Section) in China

What I do

Working in the customer service department in an IT company, I have to handle the customer orders and answer their enquiries.

Skills I use and how I developed them

Degree skills:
In terms of course content, it does not help much to my work!

Extracurricular skills:
Throughout my education in the UK, I had become more independent as I had to take care of myself, this has really helped in my career as I always have to solve problem independently at my workplace.

What I like most

I have been given substantial flexibility to plan and manage my own job, which I find enjoyable. Moreover, I love to communicate with different people

I just love every aspects of my job!

How I found out about the job


The recruitment process

When I finished my course and returned to Beijing, I looked for jobs on online job boards. The selection process of my current job included the face-to-face interviews with line manager and HR manager.

My career history

I have been working at my current position since I graduated in 2005.

Where I hope to be in 5 years

I don't have such a long-term plan yet, I enjoy my current work and responsibility!

My advice to students considering work

I believe York students should look for jobs they are really interested in. If you love your job, you will perform well and stay in the company.
