A day in the life of a Consultant in the United States
My career history
This was my second job after an internship in Greece.
Where I hope to be in 5 years
I want to move into a business centric role and work as a strategic IT consultant.
My advice to students considering work
Be prepared! There is no excuse for not doing your online research about the company you are applying and the people you are going to talk. Use LinkedIn, Glassdoor and the company's website to find out about their business.
My advice about working in my industry
Search. You can find all the info you need about a future job online. Have a polished online presence and make sure you respond to every job related email no matter if it's connected to the job you are looking or not. Talk to people. Tell them about your goals and ambitions. You never know who is going to give the best advice.
What I do
I am a client facing consultant. I help customers adopt and expand my company's software solution. I also guide them at a strategic level about application performance and lead implementation projects.
Skills I use and how I developed them
Extracurricular skills:
Presentation skills, translate IT concepts for business people among others. I was fortunate to have a 6 month training camp from the company.
What I like most
The part of my job I enjoy the most is interacting with clients and solving problems.
