A day in the life of a Finance and accounts assistant in China

How I found out about the job

www.zhaopin.com

The recruitment process

After making an application with my resume and cover letter, I was invited to the first round of interviews, which comprised of a face-to-face interview with HR, and a financial test. After that I had a second face-to-face interview with the line managers. My academic performance, communication skills and career planning were being assessed at the interviews.

My career history

After the completion of my Masters course in management in 2007, I returned to Shanghai and worked as a researcher in Alliance-Zhaopin Ltd. In 2010 I got an offer of the role of finance and accounts assistant from Lu Wan Tobacco & Sugar Ltd., which is a state-owned enterprise in China.

My advice to students considering work

Possession of overseas qualification does not necessarily guarantee good career prospects. Students should have realistic expectations about their career development, and spend more time learning about the companies they are interested in.

What I do

As a finance and accounts assistant, my primary job role includes supervising and forecasting the company’s sales performance. I am also responsible for managing and analysing the sales orders by using our computer system and software.
