My advice to students considering work
See how it goes, don't be afraid to change career.
What I do
Two years of 6 month placements around different areas within London Underground, both in head office and operational (trains, stations etc) with the aim of becoming a operational Duty Manager at the end.
Skills I use and how I developed them
Degree skills:
Analytic and organisational skills have helped.
Extracurricular skills:
General office skills - e.g. facilitation, report writing etc - developed through work.
What I like most
Variety, freedom and prospects. Oh and free travel!
What I like least
Variety, lack of a permanent role to get my teeth stuck into.
