Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?

I see careers as ever changing. I enjoy doing multiple things simultaneously. I enjoy the challenge. I enjoy teaching and inspiring the next generation of psychologists, and I enjoy the changes I can make to people's lives with therapy.

Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?

No and yes. I intended to be a therapist and that is what I did. I did not expect to be as involved with the field in advocating for policy changes (with Singapore Psychological Society), nor did I imagine that I would be teaching.

Describe your most memorable day at work

I am driven to make a difference, and when I do, I am motivated to continue to do better.

What’s your work environment and culture like?

My schedule is very flexible. Which means that I am required to be disciplined to do the work that I am suppose to do.

What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?

I was working at The Retreat York, which was relevant to my field of study.

What would you like to do next with your career?

Let's see where life takes me!

What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?

Be both a generalist and a specialist. Add value to wherever you may go.
