Tidy up your CV and LinkedIn profiles! This will help you network better and tells others you are ready for the next step.

Briefly describe the organisation you work for

I have recently graduated from the University of York in BSc Environmental Science hoping to study my MSc in Sustainability Studies.

What do you do?

I have been involved in various volunteering programmes in association with the university and more recently been accepted on to The Bright Network 3-day internship in Consulting. Apart from that, I have been working in retail for the past 6 years.

Reflecting upon your past employment and education, what led you to your current career choice?

When studying my BSc I knew I wanted to make a difference in the world and do something associated with sustainability and the environment. I found my newly profound love of conservation and I hope to develop my skills further through my MSc.

Is your current job sector different from what you thought you would enter when you graduated?

As I am still studying this is difficult to answer as I don't know where I will end up! In a short answer yes as I have been working in retail for the past 6 years however this is only part-time and I hope to gain a job in the science/environment research sector.

Describe your most memorable day at work

I try to make every day memorable! This is because gaining satisfaction and happiness makes the days go easier and not to mention I feel good about myself. I would mostly say the first day of any job as reflecting on

What extracurricular activities did you undertake at university and what transferable skills did you develop through these?

-Green Impact: IEMA Approved (Introduction to Auditing and Evaluating Environmental Behaviour Changes)
-College Committee for Alcuin College for the following roles: Ethics and Environment Officer and Vice President for Ethics and Activities
-YuCall - Student Fundraiser for the University
-Student Buddy for my department and university
-Head STYC and STYM

What would you like to do next with your career?

Have the ability to work internationally and help contribute and achieve sustainable development goals.

What top tips do you have for York students preparing for today’s job market and life after graduation?

Tidy up your CV and LinkedIn profiles! This will help you network better and tells others you are ready for the next step. Search for internships and give everything a go, even if it's different to what you thought you wanted and a sector you haven't consider, the experience is key!
