A day in the life of a Content Producer in the United Kingdom

My advice to students considering work

Get some experience of working whilst you are at university if you can. It doesn't matter too much if you don't know what to do - I didn't know that jobs in communications were a thing until I did an internship with the University's Student Internship Bureau. Try out something you've never heard of before, and you might find out you really love it!

What I do

Content Producer (Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Sciences). I work with departments around the university to produce written and visual content for their websites and print publications.

Skills I use and how I developed them

The most important skill in my job is communication, which I developed through studying languages in my degree. The in depth study of language means it really helped me to develop my written communication, as I became a mean proof-reader through checking all of my essays. My degree also introduced me to a wide range of people from all sorts of different backgrounds, which allowed me to develop my verbal communication skills.
