A day in the life of a Analyst in the United Kingdom
My career goals when I graduated
I wanted to do something within healthcare using numeracy/Maths.
My career history
I worked in NHS between 2009 and 2016, I was promoted 5 times before I left. I then got headhunted to a consultancy company that worked for NHS.
What has helped my career to progress
Keep learning and never be afraid to ask, never be afraid to try. Look for someone who you think can help you and learn from them
Courses taken since graduation
Another part time Masters in Statistics and also some Management and Programming training.
What surprised me about my career so far
People are often afraid to speak up and afraid to be driven, no questions are stupid, if you don't understand something, just ask for classification, there is no right or wrong answer.
Where I hope to be in 5 years
I would like able to use math/data to influence any decision making. I wish to be an very senior position within the company.
My advice to international students looking for work in the UK
Sometimes, you may think it is unfair that why without the visa, the job offer can be so different, I would say, take all the chances that are in front of you, and when you have more experience in the industry, you can have more power to choose what you want to do.
My advice to students considering work
Do not be afraid to start at a lower level, and work your way up.

Not many people understand maths like us, and we have to help translating Maths into English and so that everyone can understand the figures better
