Subject conferences

Subject conferences are designed for Year 12 students and mature applicants to give an insight into specific subject areas at York. Subject conferences give students the chance to explore a particular subject in depth and to get a taste of what it is like to study at York. 

The day includes lectures, some practical workshops, a campus tour and the opportunity to talk to staff and current students.

Language and Linguistics, 7 June 2018

Electronics, 4 July 2018

Location: University of York

Spend a day in the Electronic Engineering Department at the University of York getting an insight into what it might be like to study electronics at the University.

The programme will include a lecture on the varied applications of electronic engineering and a practical session in our teaching laboratories. There will also be a campus tour and a chance to chat with current students and staff over lunch.

This conference for post-16 students will provide a taste of what it is like to study chemistry at the University through a packed programme of talks and workshops. Listen to a lecture on cutting-edge chemistry, delivered by a top researcher at the University of York.

Taster days 

Taster days are aimed at Year 12 students, giving them the chance to try out a variety of subjects within one facility and to experience what studying at university will involve.

Students who come to taster days will attend sample lectures, tour the main University campus, and meet current students who are studying relevant subjects.
