REGIONAL MEETINGS - information and venues

There will be four Regional Consultation Meetings in February 2004, as follows:

Please note: any communication about the meetings should be directed to the Research Ethics Framework project, not the host venue. All venues have disabled access.

Background Information
The meetings will bring together a wide range of stakeholders and other interested parties in order to:
  • Discuss the latest developments in research governance.
  • Help shape the Guidelines and associated exemplars that will comprise the National Framework.
  • Ensure all relevant issues are taken into account in the production of the components of the Framework.
  • Help encourage the widest possible acceptance of the proposed Framework.

Meeting Agenda
Note: Edinburgh meeting takes place in the morning (with registration/coffee 9.30-10.00am) and times adjusted accordingly.

  • 1.00 - 1.30pm     Registration/Buffet Lunch.

  • 1.30 - 2.00pm     Update and discussion on National Debate - what are the main parties saying about ethics and research governance.

  • 2.00 - 2.30pm     What's the purpose of the new Guidelines? Introduction and discussion.

  • 2.30 - 3.00pm     Presentation of Discussion Paper (15 minutes), followed by response from Discussant (5 mins), and Discussion (10 minutes).

  • 3.00 - 3.15pm     Refreshment break

  • 3.15 - 4.00pm     Breakout Sessions.

  • 4.00 - 4.30pm     Feedback from Breakout Sessions.

  • 4.30pm              Close of Meeting
