Research

The Institute for Railway Studies generates high-quality research through the work of its staff and students.

The working papers available here give some indication of the breadth, depth and quality of that research, and cover subjects ranging from railway ephemera to the cultural history of the locomotive driver, from industrial research on the LMS to railway imperialism in south-east Asia.

Many of these are legacy papers, but it is envisoned that this collection will continue to grow in the future with new additions added when available. 

York Digital Library

All papers are hosted through York Digital Library (YODL), an online repository for multimedia resources including images, past exam papers and Masters theses.
