York Educational Assessment Clinic

The Centre for Child and Family Studies within which the York Educational Assessment Centre is located is primarily a research and training unit.

We currently offer private educational assessments for children up to the age of 16 for a fee of £475. Our assessments take place all year (including over the summer holidays) and appointments are only limited by demand. Assessments are carried out by Dr Sophie Brigstocke, an Educational Psychologist registered with the HCPC and an Associate Fellow of the British Psychologist Society. Our fee includes a second opinion on the report findings by Dr Val Muter, a clinical psychologist based in London, who has considerable expertise on dyslexia and developmental disorders.

Assessment sessions are currently full, and we are unable to accept any new bookings at this time.

The assessment session is tailored to the individual and we use several questionnaires to determine any specific areas to be tested during the appointment (e.g. a focus on reading or numeracy). A key aim of the assessment is to focus on the child’s strengths as well as weaknesses. We pride ourselves on reports that children tend to enjoy the assessment day and leave feeling proud of their accomplishments.

If you would like to arrange for your child to have an assessment or have any queries please do not hesitate to contact us.
