Continuing support for Women in science recognised

The Department of Psychology's  Athena SWAN Silver Award, which recognises initiatives to support women in science, has been renewed. The department has now held the award continuously since 2007, making it a member of an elite group of departments who are leading the way in the advancement of female careers in this field. 

Initiatives include:

  • Early Career Researchers Forum which hosts events focussing on skills, careers and work-life balance issues.
  • New research mentoring programme for junior faculty.
  • New openings for leadership and career development in key departmental committees.
  • New structures to oversee teaching and research ensuring gender equality and staff development are kept at the forefront of our policies as they develop.
