Speaker(s): Professor Martin Hägglund

Professor Martin Hägglund (Yale University) joins us as part of the UK book tour for his new book This Life: Why Mortality Makes Us FreeHailed as “beautifully liberating” by the New Yorker, as “a monumental achievement” by Jacobin, and as "a sweepingly ambitious synthesis of philosophy, spirituality and politics" by the Guardian, Hägglund’s book offers a new secular vision for how we should lead our lives in the twenty-first century and beyond.

Hägglund will give a short reading from the book, followed by a dialogue with Dr Adam Kelly from the Department of English, a Q&A with the audience, and a book signing and drinks reception.
