Politics Community Newsletter - Revision Week

Posted on 7 January 2025

All the latest from the Department

Hi everybody.

I hope you were able to enjoy the Christmas break and are refreshed for the upcoming assessments. It is a shorter newsletter this week just quickly advertising some department events aimed to help you with that final push before the exams and essay deadlines.

The Politics coffee morning is back from 09:30-11:00 on Wednesday in the Politics Reception. It will be great to catch-up with everybody as we settle in. Plus this is a great chance to ask some quick assessment questions and get advice from peers.

We are also running a Politics Writing Day on Thursday from  9:00-17:30 in D/N/056. This is a structured writing environment with breaks to take advantage of the free coffee and get quick feedback. Don't worry if you can't make the whole time. Just come along when you have the time. I'll be there all day.

Last but not least the Disability Accessibility Unit is advertising a paid student internship (details below, application deadline 31st January)

Dr John Evemy,
Welbeing and Community Officer

Paid Internship Opportunity: Developing Resources for Accessible Research Practices

We are running a cross-Departmental collaborative project to establish a ‘toolkit’ to make research participation more accessible for students and to support researchers to include more disabled people in participatory research and collaboration. To ensure the project remains student focused, we are looking to recruit 4 student interns who identify as disabled (diagnosed or self-diagnosed). For full details of this internship opportunity please View the job specification.
If you have any questions at all about this internship you can contact Dr Alex Reid (alex.reid@york.ac.uk).
