"York has taught me that a real university is a place that produces independent thinkers, not people who just regurgitate information. Back home in China, where I studied English translation and interpretation, I gained some valuable knowledge - but here at York I've really developed my analytical skills. One of the most significant things I've realised is that there are no correct answers in social sciences!

I'm fascinated by international relations theories, security issues, and foreign policies. My core modules are very thought-provoking because they allow me to understand global developments from different perspectives.

The lectures are very engaging, and I really enjoy having the opportunity to share ideas with students from different backgrounds in our seminars. Most importantly though, I think, is the close relationship I have with my tutors, who are all very supportive and approachable."
