Spectroscopy of neutron-deficient magnesium isotopes at TRIUMF-ISAC

Transition strengths in the sd-shell provide a challenge for state-of-the-art ab initio nuclear theory, with recent theoretical results showing promise in their ability to reproduce experiment. In order to allow for comparison between these models and experiment away from stability, in beam gamma-ray spectroscopy measurements have been recently made to determine transition strengths in neutron-deficient 21,22,23Mg using the TIGRESS setup at TRIUMF-ISAC. I will present preliminary results from these measurements, as well as an overview of the TRIUMF-ISAC facility with a particular emphasis on gamma-ray spectroscopy experiments.
