Speaker(s): Prof Nico Orce

The University of York and the University of the Western Cape (UWC) have embarked together in some remarkable scientific enterprises: from our joint experiment at CERN, which turned out  to be the first-African led experiment at CERN, to the new development of the Modern African Nuclear DEtector LAboratory at UWC, called MANDELA by our South African students and sponsor from the STFC through the Global Funding Program. I'll present on recent developments that led to this successful collaborative work between York and UWC, including the latest data analysis from the CERN experiment and the status of MANDELA, which is now ready for commissioning.
