Whether as photos or QR codes, images are ideal information carriers. Using digital holograms, we can shape the amplitude, phase and polarisation profile of light, generating arbitrary complex vector beams. I will introduce the concept of structured light, show how we generate and characterise it in the lab, and discuss its interaction with atomic gasses.
