This presentation will identify IPEM’s aims and mission as a Learned Society and professional association. It will explore the ways in which IPEM achieves its charitable aim ‘to advance physics and engineering applied to medicine and biology; and to advance public education in the field.’ This will include IPEM’s journals and publications, scientific meetings, and grants, prizes and awards programmes. It will also set out IPEM’s outreach work to schools, Higher Education Institutions and the general public.
The opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate students, academic educators and researchers to contribute to IPEM’s programme of activities will be explained, together with the categories and benefits of membership available to these groups.
Finally, the presentation will set out IPEM’s strategic aims for the future, highlighting the unique position of the Institute at the intersection of academic, industry and service delivery groups.
