South African students visit Nuclear Physics Group in York

Under the recent GCRF grant of Prof David Jenkins, York nuclear physics group hosted another visit by the academic and students from the University of Zululand, South Africa.

The group has been engaged with a part of the current activity of York group where a potential use of plastic scintillators could facilitate building cheaper and more effective PET imaging systems, a concept which may have significant relevance to the developing countries like South Africa. The visitors have been involved in receiving laboratory as well as simulation based training by closely working with the York group.
