Research Theme Champion for Technologies for the Future

Posted on 20 May 2020

We are delighted that Professor Dan Watts has been appointed as the new Research Theme Champion for Technologies for the Future.

Professor Watts was appointed as an inspirational research leader at York in 2018, and holds a Chair in Hadron and Nuclear Physics in the Department of Physics. Alongside his pure scientific research, Dan leads a number of interdisciplinary initiatives in areas including medical PET imaging, proton therapy diagnostics and new quantum technologies.

Dan took up the Research Champion post at the beginning of May.

Professor Kieran Gibson (HoD Physics) said “it is fantastic to see this recognition of Dan’s work, in both fundamental and applied research. He follows Thomas Krauss in the role, who brought great energy and vision to the position, as one of the first Research Champions”.
