One of the ways in which the University rewards excellence in learning and teaching is through the Vice-Chancellor's Teaching Awards, introduced in 2006. Nominations, in which students play a part, are invited from departments in the Spring Term of each academic year.
The panel said of Phil, 'we were impressed with your excellent level of teaching, across a wide range of modules and activities over a period of time, and you clearly have a creative approach to your practice, and in supporting students'. They went on to descibe Phil as a 'passionate, proactive and enthusiastic teacher, instilling a love of teaching in your students'.
The award will be formally conferred by the Chancellor or Vice-Chancellor at one of the summer's degree ceremonies.
