World Voice Day Event

This year’s World Voice Day event at York will take you behind the scenes of an exciting research project between the University of York, Sheffield University and Leeds University as part of the White Rose College of the Arts and Humanities. Exploring 'Expressive Ensemble Performance' this research seeks to understand the nuances behind good ensemble singing.

Robert Hollingworth (Director of solo voice ensemble I Fagiolini), and Barbershop expert Rob Barber, will lead two vocal ensemble masterclasses. The audience will be invited to contribute to live research – voting live on aspects of the performance that they think are changing - whilst researchers explore different methods of measuring aspects of the performance using bespoke and existing technologies, including the Microsoft Kinect.
