Speaker(s): Professor Katy Cubitt, University of East Anglia
This lecture takes a new look at the preaching of Archbishop Wulfstan of York and sets it in the context of the contemporary continental movement, the Peace of God. Continental parallels shed new light on the nature of Wulfstan's political and legal activities, and on the state of the contemporary church. The lecture will also explore some aspects of continental influence on the tenth and eleventh-century church.
Location: Room K/133, King's Manor
