The University of York Centre for the Americas is delighted to welcome David W. Blight for a public discussion of his brand new landmark biography, Frederick Douglass: Prophet of Freedom (Simon & Schuster, 2018). Hailing from Flint, Michigan, Professor Blight is a teacher, scholar, and public historian. He teaches at Yale University, and is the award-winning author and editor of numerous books on the history of U.S. memory, slavery, and abolition.
Professor Blight will be introduced by the UofY Professor Jim Walvin, and in conversation with Lecturer in Modern American History, Dr David Huyssen.
