York Society of Engineers lecture
Dick will tell the fascinating stories of the VASA and the Mary Rose.
The Vasa, a warship of the Swedish navy, sank in 1628 and was raised in 1961. The preservation by impregnating with PEG solution took nearly 30 years and the vessel is now on display in a dedicated museum in Stockholm. The Mary Rose sank in the Solent a century earlier and is much better known in the UK.
