Lifelong Learning Lectures

The Mystery Plays have represented both York’s piety and civic pride. In the Middle Ages, they were performed on pageant wagons wheeled through the city streets.  In modern times, the Plays were performed at the Minster and the Museum Gardens, as well as on pageant wagons. This summer, the Plays return to the Minster, one of the highlights in the City’s calendar. This lecture will provide an introduction to the Plays and hopefully set the mood for the forthcoming summer event.
