Vince Parsonage (viola)

Vince Parsonage was born and studied in New Zealand, playing with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra before going to Melbourne, Australia to further his studies at the Victorian College of the Arts.  In Melbourne, he was a member of the State Orchestra of Victoria as well as performing solo and chamber music with special emphasis on contempory and baroque music.

Vince played with Rantos Collegium, Ariel New Music Ensemble, Australian Access Young Composers, Pierrot Ensemble and in the Baroque field he has performed on period instruments with the Handel Orchestra, Canberra and the Melbourne Baroque Orchestra. He has had a number of Australian works written for him. In 1990 he received first prize at the Dandenong  International Recital Competition, Australia and he has recorded as a soloist for Radio New Zealand.  Vince has also worked in the pop world with Crowded House, Debra Conway, Bjork, Depeche Mode and Shed Seven.

Vince is now a member of the Orchestra of Opera North and has also played with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Northern Sinfonia, Welsh National Opera, Northern Ballet and RTE, Narodni Divadlo (Prague) as well as various chamber ensembles including the Doric, York and Northern String Quartets.
