Biography

Shaun Matthew studied the tuba at the Junior Guildhall School of Music & Drama & Royal Northern College of Music from 1991-1995 under Stuart Roebuck and Andrew Duncan. He studied conducting at the RNCM from 1992 with Timothy Reynish and Edward Warren, and culminated in his being awarded the Mortimer Fruber Prize. Since leaving the RNCM he has worked with many leading orchestras in the North of England, including the BBC Philharmonic, Stockport Symphony Orchestra, the Huddersfield Philharmonic Orchestra,  Shaun has been Musical Director of the Scarborough Symphony Orchestra for 6 years. He has performed with many different ensembles as a tubist including Orquesta Timbala, Toolshed and many of the orchestras in the North of England.
