Max Garrard (French horn)

Max Garrard started learning the horn at 11 years of age and later went on to study at Birmingham Conservatoire and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, graduating in 2001.  During his time at the Guildhall he became a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester.  On completing his studies he was appointed 4th Horn in the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra where he stayed for a season and returned to the UK in 2002.

Back in the UK Max lead a busy freelance career in London for 8 years, working with all the major orchestras and opera companies in London as well as orchestras throughout the UK.  He was appointed 4th horn in the Orchestra of Opera North in 2010, and continues some of his freelance work whenever possible.
