Travel Information

How to find the University


By car

Take the York ring road to the junction with the A19 or A1079/A166. The University is signposted from these junctions. Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall & Rymer Auditorium: follow the signs for Wentworth College and Biology at the roundabout at the top of University Road. Take the first turn left to Car Park D (permit parking only, see note on parking below) and follow the footpath signs to Sir Jack Lyons Concert Hall. Parking: please allow plenty of time to find a space at one of the pay and display facilities at Campus Central or Campus North car parks.

By bus

First York service no. 66 leaves the railway station approximately every ten minutes during the day and every 30 minutes in the evening, taking approximately 20 minutes to get to the University. The route goes through the city centre via Merchantgate and Heslington Road.  There are bus stops on University Road that are 2 minutes walk from the Department of Music. On foot

The campus is about 30 minutes’ walk from the city centre.
