Andreas Tsiartas’s new work, entitled Ìérkos, was premiered in Espacio Turina Sevilla, Spain, by the Spanish Ensemble Taller Sonoro. The piece was commissioned by the DYCE - Discovering Young Composers of Europe network - as an award for winning the DYCE Competition back in 2019.
In the next few days, there will be subsequent live-performances of the piece, by the Cikada ensemble in Oslo/Norway (04 Dec), Ensemble U: in Tallinn/ Estonia (08 Dec) - which will also be broadcast live by Klassikaraadio, and Divertimento ensemble in Milano/ Italy (12 Dec). Ìérkos will be recorded and released on CD by the Cikada Ensemble in the next few months.
Born and raised in Cyprus, Andreas is a graduate (Diplom Komponist) of the Hochschule für Musik ‘Carl Maria von Weber’ in Dresden, Germany. Andreas is currently in the continuation year of his PhD studies in the University of York under the supervision of Professor Thomas Simaku. His doctoral studies are entirely funded by the A. S. Onassis Foundation (2017-2021).
