On 25 April, Dr Thomas Simaku visited the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna where he gave a lecture for the composition class of Professor Michael Jarrell. Entitled from ‘1 to 100 (…and a few in between)’, the lecture focused on Simaku's Soliloquy Cycle - a series of highly virtuosic solo works for various instruments that he has embarked on for a number of years now. He also presented his award-winning work Concerto for Orchestra.
Dr Simaku also gave lectures and masterclasses for composition students at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna on 27 and 30 April. Simaku then moved on to the Czech Republicm, visiting the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Prague on 2 May to give a lecture on his recent works.
