Posted on 23 January 2018

The PhD student is among eight composers selected for the new scheme.

As a partnership between PRS for Music and the Berkeley Ensemble, Accelerate will support eight composers in the development of career skills such as publishing, recording, promotion and funding. The programme will run for 11 months in 2018, during which time the composers will take part in workshops and receive guidance from industry professionals, as well as receiving mentoring from renowned composer John Woolrich, as they develop new works. This will culminate in a special concert by the Berkeley Ensemble on 22 November 2018, premiering the new works at St James’ Church.

Jones was selected through a completely anonymous process, designed to encourage applications from composers of all ages. He is currently has previously been awarded the RPS Prize 2015, Britten Sinfonia’s OPUS2014 competition, and received commissions from New Dots and Sound & Music. Other awards include The Terry Holmes Composer/Performer Award from The University of York Music Department, The Jack Lyons Celebration Award, and a residency at The Banff Centre, Alberta, in March 2015.

Ticket information will be released on the PRS website in due course.
