Ann Cleare's work the square of yellow light that is your window will receive its UK premiere at Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival on Saturday, November 25th. Written for saxophone, piano, percussion, and electric guitar, Ensemble Nikel have previously presented this piece at Adevantgarde Festival in Munich, Bludenzer Tage zeitgemäßer Musik in Austria, and will also be performing it at Ultraschall Festival, Berlin in January 2018. The piece will be recorded for broadcast on BBC radio next year.
Other recent works of Ann Cleare have also received European festival exposure this Autumn season: Yarn/Wire presenting the piano/percussion quartet I should live in wires for leaving you behind at Transit Festival, Belgium and at Rainy Days Festival, Luxembourg; ensemble mosaik touring ore for clarinet and string trio to Trattorie Festival, Italy and to Kunstraum and Klangwerkstatt Berlin, Germany; Crash Ensemble bringing the string quintet fiáin to GAIDA , Lithuania and to CrashLand, Ireland.
