Postgraduate composers and performers award winners announced

Posted on 12 October 2016

The Department of Music has announced the winners of two prestigious annual awards for postgraduate composers and performers.

The Terry Holmes Composer-Performer Award and the Lyons Celebration Award both take the form of a commission to create a new work to be premiered during the following concert season.

This year the Holmes Award has gone to PhD students Karin de Fleyte and Chai Jia. Two Lyons Awards have gone to PhD students James Williamson and Carlos Zamora, who will also have an opportunity to take up a short residency at the Banff Centre in Canada.

The Department is fortunate to receive continuing support for these creative awards through the generosity of local supporter Terry Holmes, and the Sir Jack Lyons Trust. Announcements about the premieres of the works created by these Research Students will follow later in the academic year.
