Posted on 5 January 2015

William Brooks’s composition "Vale, dulcis amice" (the sixth of his Six Mediaeval Lyrics) has been released on Trio Mediaeval’s most recent album, Aquilonis.

The album was listed in the New York Times top 25 classical releases of 2014. Brooks’s piece was also featured by Peter Day on the 20 December 2014 edition of the BBC Radio 3's Saturday Classics.

In a different domain, Brooks has been named the recipient of the 2015 Thomas Hampsong Educational Fellowship for his project, “Singing for Uncle Sammy: World War I Sheet Music and American Culture.”  The award will be used to fund the construction of a website that presents aspects of Brooks’s research on the James Edward Myers Collection at the Sousa Archives and Center for American Music, University of Illinois.
