PhD candidate James Williamson selected for Psappha composition project

Posted on 5 November 2015

James Williamson is one of six composers selected to take part in the Psappha Ensemble’s “Composing for Clarinet scheme”. This scheme involves working closely with Psappha’s clarinettist Dov Goldberg to develop a new piece for clarinet over three sessions (from November to March), culminating in a final day of filming and recording the finished piece.

The aim of the project is to give the selected composers, in the early stages of their career, direct contact with a highly experienced performer in order to support their development. Each composer will write a piece for solo clarinet which will be filmed and sound recorded by Psappha. The films will then be hosted on Psappha’s YouTube Channel. The works created through the process will also be considered for inclusion in a Psappha performance.
