Posted on 5 February 2014

PhD candidate Patrick John Jones has won the Britten Sinfonia OPUS 2014 competition for unpublished composers.

Patrick was one of 13 composers shortlisted to take part in workshops with members of Britten Sinfonia, before being selected to write a new piece for wind quintet, to be performed in the orchestra's At Lunch series at Wigmore Hall, Cambridge and Norwich in November 2014, and recorded for future broadcast on BBC Radio 3.

Patrick completed his BA in York in 2010 before returning to his native London to undertake a masters degree.  He has now returned to York and is currently working towards a PhD in Composition under the supervision of Thomas Simaku.
