Tim Howell to appear on Composer on the Week

Dr Tim Howell will join presenter Donald Macleod to discuss Finnish music from Sibelius to the present day on BBC Radio 3's Composer of the Week.

Tim Howell is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Music and a renowned expert of Finnish music. His book After Sibelius: Studies in Finnish Music was the first survey of Finnish musical modernism in English. He has recently edited Kaija Saariaho: Visions, Narratives, Dialogues – the first symposium book in English to be dedicated exclusively to this important figure in Finnish contemporary music.
