Associate Lecturer in Statistics

We are seeking an outstanding candidate for the role of Associate Lecturer in Statistics, to further enhance our teaching in this area.  You will be joining a vibrant, supportive and international community.  The latest National Student Survey placed our Department number one in the Russell Group on a variety of measures, including overall satisfaction.

Role

The main responsibilities are:

  • To lecture, lead seminars, tutorials and other forms of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
  • To develop and apply innovative and appropriate teaching techniques and material which create interest, understanding and enthusiasm amongst students
  • To carry out on-going curriculum review, including module content and materials and contribute to the development of teaching and learning strategies
  • To undertake effectively a range of administrative responsibilities

Key Requirements

You will have a postgraduate qualification (ideally a PhD), or equivalent professional experience, in Statistics.  You should also hold an appropriate academic professional and teaching qualification or a willingness to complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice.

You will have extensive specialist knowledge in Statistics, sufficient to develop teaching and provide relevant learning support to students across different levels of academic ability.

You will have experience of teaching in HE at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level, using different delivery techniques to enthuse and engage students.  You will be able to demonstrate the ability to successfully plan and design teaching material.  You will also have the ability to supervise the work of students, provide advice on study skills and assist with learning problems.

You will have highly developed communication skills to engage effectively with a wide ranging audience, both orally and in writing, using a range of media.

The post is full-time, 37 hours a week, on a fixed-term contract for 9 months and salary will be in the range £31,604 - £38,832 a year.
