Royal Society University Research Fellowships

For outstanding scientists in the UK who are in the early stages of their research career and have the potential to become leaders in their field (3-8 years of research experience since their PhD). Fellowships are awarded for 5 years, but extensions may be awarded for three additional years. All aspects of mathematics eligible.

Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellowships

For outstanding scientists in the UK at an early stage of their research career who require a flexible working pattern due to personal circumstances such as parenting or caring responsibilities or health issues (no more than 6 years post-doc). All aspects of mathematics eligible.

EPSRC Postdoctoral Fellowship

A personal award, designed to provide the recipient with the necessary support to establish or further develop themselves as a leader of the future. This type of award enables you to devote most of your time to a program of activities to deliver your proposed research vision (no eligibility rules based on years of post-doctoral experience). UK Research and Innovation - Future Leaders Fellowships

 

The UK Research and Innovation Future Leaders Fellowships (FLF) will grow the strong supply of talented individuals needed to ensure that UK research and innovation continues to be world class.

Marie Curie Individual Fellowship

The goal of Individual Fellowships is to enhance the creative and innovative potential of experienced researchers, wishing to diversify their individual competence in terms of skill acquisition through advanced training, international and intersectoral mobility. Daphne Jackson Fellowship

A Daphne Jackson Fellowship is a unique fellowship designed to return STEM professionals to their careers after a break. Fellows normally carry out their research part-time over 2 years, in a university or research establishment in the UK. The Fellowships are flexible and include a tailored training programme designed to update skills and knowledge and support you in your return to research. All aspects of mathematics eligible.

BBSRC Future Leader Fellowship

Awards are for three years and it is expected that around 12 fellowships will be awarded, each at a value of up to £300k.The Future Leader Fellowship (FLF) will provide support for researchers wishing to undertake independent research and gain leadership skills. The FLF will support the transition of early stage researchers to fully independent research leaders. As such FLFs represent part of our commitment to the supply of highly skilled professional scientists to the UK. BBSRC David Phillips Fellowships

David Phillips Fellowships (DPF) provide support for researchers wishing to establish their first independent research group. Awards are for five years and include personal salary and a significant research support grant to enable fellows to establish their own independent research group. Applicants should hold a PhD, but not hold, or have held, an academic position of Lecturer level or equivalent. It is expected that applicants will have at least three years of active postdoctoral research experience prior to February 2016. BBSRC Enterprise Fellowships

The Fellowships enable the recipient to concentrate on developing the commercial potential of their research, whilst also receiving formal training in relevant business skills. Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship

Offering fifty per cent match-funding for the salary costs of three-year academic research position, the scheme enables early career researchers to undertake a significant piece of publishable work. Applicants must have a track record of research, but should not have held an established academic appointment in the UK. All aspects of mathematics eligible.

Leverhulme Trust Research Fellowships

Offering up to £50,000 over three to twenty-four months for experienced researchers to conduct a programme of research in any discipline. All aspects of mathematics eligible.

Royal Commission for the Exhibition of 1851, GB

These give early-career scientists or engineers of exceptional promise the opportunity to conduct an innovative research project of their own instigation. Approximately nine fellowships are available for up to three years. Each fellowship carries a stipend of £32,000 for the first year, and £33,500 for the second and third years. Science and Technology Facilities Council - Ernest Rutherford Fellowship

Funding to support future scientific leaders to establish a strong, independent research programme. Enable early-career researchers from the UK and overseas (who do not have an academic position and a minimum of 5 years' research experience from the start of their PhD, minimum of two years postdoctoral experience) to establish an independent research programme. 5 year duration. Applications must fall within the remit of the STFC core Science Programme (astronomy, solar and planetary science, particle physics, particle astrophysics, cosmology, nuclear physics). One application from the Department of Mathematics a year allowed.

Canon Research Fellowship

Fellowships for highly qualified European and Japanese researchers, supporting all fields of research. There are no limitations or restrictions. Applicants do not have to be currently enrolled or employed at the time of applying. Canon Foundation Fellowships are worth 22500-27500 euros per year or pro rata over a minimum period of three months up to maximum of one year. All aspects of mathematics eligible.

Sir Henry Dale Fellowships

No more than seven years’ postdoctoral research experience (from the date of your PhD viva to the date of the interview) or you're currently an early career fellow (eg Sir Henry Wellcome Postdoctoral Fellow or a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Fellow) and this fellowship is the next step in your career as a research scientist. We’re looking for researchers who will be strong candidates for more senior fellowships or permanent positions at UK research organisations at the end of this fellowship.
