Profile

Biography

Sue has over 30 years’ experience working in a variety of organisations as a senior manager and as a HR and L&D professional, mostly in the public sector (both civil service and local government).  Her special interest is in leadership, management and talent development.  She has worked as an associate tutor with The York Management School on the postgraduate programmes in HR Management since 2012 and joined the School as a part-time lecturer in October 2018.

Sue completed her MA in Management Learning in the Management School at the University of Lancaster between 1995 and 1997 while working full time as head of a leadership development programme in the civil service.  Her tutors at Lancaster included John Burgoyne and Mark Easterby-Smith and her dissertation was about identifying the competencies required of high-flyers.

Sue has been a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and its predecessor organisations since the early 1990s and is Chair of the CIPD North Yorkshire Branch.  As the Chair of the Branch, Sue takes a leadership role as head of the Branch Committee and represents the CIPD at a local level.  She also sits on the national CIPD Council which discusses and agrees CIPD strategy and policy.
