Management PhD Scholarships

Finance your research into business and management with a fee waiver and generous stipend.

  • Funding: Grant equivalent to the Research Council’s UK National Minimum Doctoral Stipend (£16,062 for 2022/23), plus tuition fees

Please ensure you have applied to our Management PhD by 21 April 2023. You need to have received a formal offer before applying for this scholarship. You should indicate that you are interested in this scholarship as part of your PhD application.

Eligibility

Open to International (including EU) and UK (home) students.

In order to be eligible you must also have an offer for a place on this course: PhD Management

These scholarships are open to applicants commencing full-time PhD study within Management on 1 October 2023. You must have received a formal offer of a PhD place before being eligible to apply for one of our School scholarships.

To apply for this scholarship, you must have:

  • an undergraduate honours degree equivalent to UK 2:1 or above
  • a Masters degree (or equivalent) in an appropriate academic discipline, with a minimum average score of 60 per cent.

You must live within a reasonable distance of the University of York while in receipt of this scholarship.

If your first language is not English, you must meet the School’s minimum English language requirements.

These awards are not open to individuals who are currently registered for PhD research study, or who have already been awarded a PhD degree.

How we allocate

 

Priority will be given to applicants whose proposed research clearly aligns with that of academic staff members in the School.

Terms and conditions

 

The award provides tuition fees at the relevant UK, EU or international rate, and a maintenance grant equivalent to the Research Council's UK National Minimum Doctoral Stipend (this amount is reviewed annually), paid in four equal instalments.

The award will be made for one year in the first instance, and is renewable for a further period of up to two years subject to satisfactory academic progress, on condition that you have been successful in the school’s progression process, and that you are eligible for full PhD registration at the start of your second year of research.
