European Universities Sales Competition:  22nd & 23rd May 2019, Avans University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands

Following on from our success at the 2018 UK Competition in Edinburgh the University of York took the European Championship in the Netherlands last week.

The team was made up of two undergraduates: Christian Avery and Jonathan Olufowobi, and two masters students; Wei Qiang and Ishita Kathpalia.   The team competed against over 50 students from 16 European Universities, including Portsmouth and Napier from the UK.  On Day One the whole team competed in a speed selling competition with each student pitching to 5 judges from a range of universities and business (salesforce.com and Gartner).  Christian Avery received an 'honourable mention' for his performance.

The main competition followed on Day 2. Christian and Ishita represented the team in 3 individual customer meetings, including a panel of judges.  The top 3 students were the selected for a final round, a pitch to the board of the case study company and an audience over over 100 people.  Christian made the Top 3 and delivered a faultless and brilliant pitch, which secured him the first prize!

In addition to the learnings from the competition the whole team also had opportunities to discuss internships and job roles with the sponsor companies.
