Management School academic at top level EU Conference
Dr Bernd Brandl of The York Management School led an expert panel at a high level European conference in Athens looking at the future of social dialogue and its impact on employment and working conditions.
Dr. Bernd Brandl was invited by the Hellenic Presidency of the Council of the European Union, jointly with the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions, to host and moderate an expert panel on “The changing world of work and challenges for social dialogue” at the conference on 'Social Dialogue as a driver in shaping and improving employment and working conditions in the EU' on 23. June 2014 in Athens (Greece).
The conference brought together around 100 participants, including representatives of government ministries, national and European social partner organisations, the European Commission, international organisations (e.g. ILO), as well as experts and members of the academic world. Among the academics, Nobel Prize winner Professor Christopher Pissarides followed Bernd Brandl’s panel with a speech on Social Europe in a climate of austerity.
